A force is a PUSH or PULL on a structure.
The force of GRAVITY is what keeps our feet planted firmly on the Earth, rather than allowing us to float away as if we were on the moon.
The effect of a force depends on 3 things:

These are the forces that act on a structure from the outside.
They include:

- Static Loads - permanent forces acting on an object such as the weight of the structure itself
- Dynamic Loads - changing forces, such as the people inside the structure or the wind blowing agains it.
