Simple Machines |
Machines meet the SAME need in different ways:
After learning about the ways that humans have met the need of transporting water throughout history, complete the (CC) Critical Challenge demonstrating a particular human need that has been met in different ways over time.

Types of Simple Machines
There are 6 different Simple Machines:
FLIPPED CLASSROOM Over the next few days, we will complete activities in class using simple machines. Use the following schedule to view material for class. I will let you know what topics to view each night.
|
|
- View up to and including "levers". Be sure to add notes to your notebook.
- View up to and including "pullys". Be sure to add notes to your notebook.
- View up to and including "wheel and axels". Be sure to add notes to your notebook.
Complex Machines
All complex machines are comprised of 2 or more simple machines.
Complex machines are joined together using subsystems.
Gears
Gear Trains have 2 or more gears attached together.
Gears function to either speed up, or slow down a machine.
Oo - Speeds up the machine because the smaller gear rotates more times than the larger gear.
(increases the number of rotations)
oO - Slows down a machine because the larger gear rotates less that the smaller gear.
(decreases the number of rotations)
